Occupational Outlook Handbook: Engineering Technicians
– The Occupation Outlook Handbook
is a nationally recognized source of career information issued every two
years by the US Dept of Labor. The Handbook describes what workers do on the
job, working conditions, the training and education needed, earnings, and
expected job prospects in a wide range of occupations, including for
Engineering Technicians. [Note: Informative, but as a government
publication, it is rather dryly written.]

Engineering Technology-focused organizations:
American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians (ASCET) - The
national professional society for engineering technicians and technologists
in all engineering disciplines.
National Institute for Certification in Engineering Technology (NICET) –
Offers two certification programs – Technician certification in more than 30
specialty areas and Technologist certification for holders of Bachelor’s
degrees in Engineering Technology from ABET-accredited schools. NICET itself
is a non-profit division of the National Society of Professional Engineers (NSPE).
Tau Alpha Pi Association – The academic honor society for Engineering
Technology students. Maintains chapters at approximately 100 colleges.
